Default Fuel Pack vs ECM calibration

Is there any advantage of adding a Fuel Pack, rather that having the dealer re-calibrate the ECM?
I do not plan to do anything other than the pipes and air cleaner kit.

Thanks

The dealer will most likely just download and install a "one sizes fits all" canned map. I wasn't all that happy with mine...
The FuelPak will can be tweaked to your riding style and add-ons.

If you go with a Power Vision, you will be able to flash your own ecm and then take the tuner off the bike. You can tweak it or use a canned map from the manufacturer. Many times the costs for a reflash is not much less than the tuner itself.

I hooked up the Power Vision and tweaked the ecm as I added something. First was what was called the improved stock flash, then one for a free flowing in take, then one for a free flowing intake AND free flowing exhaust.

After the first time it take less than 5 minutes each time I did it.

Good investment that will make your bike shine. Unless $150 bucks makes a difference in what you do, stay away from xieds. A snake oil band aid. Even the reviews in American Iron say they do very little.

Seeing as he asked about the Fuelpak, I will say the Fuelpak can help you run richer than the EPA allows your dealer to reprogram. I would throw that out there before every Power Commander salesman in the continental United States chimes in. For the money you can't beat it, but there are more expensive alternatives that you can do more with if you have the extra money lying around.

I found just the opposite to be true.
I bought the ViED's (the variable variety) after I wasn't completely happy with the dealer Stage 1 remap.
After the ViED's and some tweaking, the bike's oil temps ran at least 25° cooler, decel popping which had become unbearable, vanished, and the MPG's returned to normal.
I was VERY happy with them - and they made a HUGE difference for me.
YMMV

But even I decided to move on, since I never intended to leave them piggybacked forever - so I bought the FP3 this AM...

Fuelpak all the way. I have the same setup and I love it. Very easy to instal and program.

Ditto all the way. Have mine on my 09 Fatboy since early 2010 and never any issues. Now the wife's got a FP on her 12 Heritage with Samson dual exhaust and sounds and works great.

I've checked into doing an Andrews cam job and they came back with the mapping settings in case I go that route, so I say it's Stage-II compatible!!

I wouldn't spend all that money on remaps for a cookie-cutter mapping anyway. There isn't a specific-pipe & intake remap, just a canned generic one. Not worth the money IMHO.

My 2009 Heritage has V&H staggards, and SE AC.
It also had a Stage 1 ECM dealer turn.

The bike ran well, but had a bad decel pop.
I bought a Fuel Pak and 20 minutes later, my oil temp dropped 15 degrees, my MPG increased by around 4 mpg, the throttle response was noticeably improved and the decel pop was all by gone.

No doubt the Fuel Pak was a very good addition.
However I picked up the Fuel Pak used for $130.

If I was to by a new fuel tuner I was leaning toward the Fuel Moto Micro Tuner.
It had great reviews and apparently Fuel Moto has outstanding customer support.

I think it all comes down to how much you want to spend. I started with Xied's on my Slim and replaced them with a Power Vision. A big price difference, but the performance increase and ability to customize the tune is well worth it.
