I have a 08 flhx, and just bought V&H monster ovals, high flow aircleaner. Do I need the fuel pack? Should i get the stage one ecm down load from the dealer, and get the fuel pack?
Anybodys exp on the matter will be appreciated.
I am planning on doing some eng. work, cams, heads that sort of thing.
Since you are planning to do some work, you should be thinking about a fuel management system. I run a Power Commander, but there are others, and some could be argued to be better, but it really is in the hands of the tuner who is tuning your bike.
I would suggest that you find your tuner first, ask around and find out who's dong a great job tuning bikes in your area, and then ask him (or her) what they'd rather see in your bike to give you the best tune, assuming you have unknown (as of yet) modifications planned for the future, and what your current plans are (the pipes and A/C)
I've been pretty happy with my Power Commander... The fuel pack is rather limited from what I've read.
Lucky, the FuelPak is a great fuel manager for the system you now have and is inexpensive. But with the mods you are planning for the future there might not be a map already designed for it and V&H does not give you the option to develop your own maps. For extensive mods, I've heard that the SERT (or whatever they call it now) is a better choice because it gives you a lot of flexibility.
