Default Marking Territory

What are all the various ways your pride and joy has marked it's territory?

Mine decided to leave it's rear wheel weights on the ride yesterday...

What parts to your bike have fallen off and been lost while riding? Hoping to gain insight into what to double check during inspection/cleaning.

Losing the wheel balance weights is a dealer issue as they changed the tire a month and a 1000 miles ago. The double sided tape they used stuck to the rim, but not the weights.

Also a few months ago I learned that when I ride without my saddlebags to remove the rubber isolator otherwise the bike will do it for me. Admittedly this is an heritage classic specific issue.

Honestly, I can't think of anything else falling off, but thought I'd query y'all.

Back when I was learning to fly I lost a wheel pant in flight. When I asked my boss who was an ex-Phantom pilot if he every lost anything in flight, he chucked and said "a bomb".

So who knows, there might be an interesting story or two out there...

I was working in the garage one day when I heard a faint 'tink' from the space between the bike and the wall. After a bit of searching I found a wheel weight laying on the floor. I had a couple of extra weights so I replaced it and continued with my project. Several weeks later I was sitting on the floor, by the front wheel, cleaning the bike after having ridden in a down pour the day before. I again I heard the familiar 'tink'.
Sure enough a (different) wheel weight fell off the rear wheel. I went to the local auto parts store and bought different weights and haven't had the problem since. Dyna beads are scheduled for the next tire change.

Last fall I noticed that the little black plastic trim piece on the bottom of the shifter peg was missing. No idea how long it had been missing. A week ago I rolled the bike out of the garage, started it, and went back to the garage to get my helmet and jacket. When I walked back out to the bike the little trim piece was laying on the ground under the bike.

I've never lost anything while I was riding...so far. But I have lost my patience and my temper many times. Does that count?

Mine marks its territory the way all Harleys' should, with a little drop of oil. Just slightly annoying, been quoted between $300 and $500 in labor to replace a 30 cent o-ring and make this go away, so I just live with it. Not too bad actually, I loose between a cup and pint of transmission fluid during the short riding season up here.
