I'm about to change the front springs in my 07 XL 1200C and have forgotten the size of the fork tube cap nut so I can order a socket.&nbsp\\; I searched the forum and came up with zero.&nbsp\\; I know I read it somewhere here in inch and metric.&nbsp\\; Is inch or metric better&nbsp\\;and what is that size?&nbsp\\;

Also, can I support the front of the bike from a hiost and relieve the springs enough to get the caps off and on without too much difficulty?

&nbsp\\;1 3/8" six sided or 35 mm.&nbsp\\; There will be some pressure pushing the cap off when you unscrew it.

Be sure to get the front wheel all the way off the ground.

 

The one SportyPig linked is probably best, I just bught a socket at Autozone, filed away the tool marks, filled it partly with styrofaom &amp\\; covered the caps w/ electrical tape
