Default new chrome sliders

I have seen a few posts on how easy it is to change your sliders. Can anyone elaborate a bit more, with perhaps a list of steps on how to do it with the forks mounted to the bike? I reide a 2003 wideglide
Any help would be appreciated
&nbsp\\;
Cheers,

It really isn't that hard to do. Get a manual and follow the directions. When I did mine I used the triple tree as my vise to hold the forks as I loosened the top nut. Be real carefull when you take the top nut off as it is under preasure.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
1. loosen the top fork cap nut.
2. remove wheel
3. Drain oil (if you have drain plugs)
4.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Remove the bottom bolt that holds the dampner in place.
5. Remove fender and&nbsp\\; remove forks from triple tree.
6. finish removing the fork cap nut (carefully it is under preasure), spacer, and spring
7.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Remove dust cap using brass drift
8.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Remove snap ring that&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;holds in the fork seal
9. Using the upper fork as a&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;slide puller pull out fork seal.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
10. Remove dampner and remember the order that the parts went in.
11. Reverse process using new sliders.
(this is from memory when I did it a few weeks ago)
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
Get a fork cap socket designed for the fork cap nut. It clears the handle bars.
I used a PVC pipe to install the seal but that was for 49mm forks. I do not know what size you would need.

+1 Airborne350G

I used my service manual and this web page for a reference. I would add one step.

Leave the fender on the sliders until you break the hex bolts at the bottom of the sliders free.&nbsp\\; Otherwise, they spin and you will pull your hair out.&nbsp\\; BTW, the hex bolts require a 12mm allen wrench.

Hit me up if you have questions.&nbsp\\; It's not difficult if you take your time and work methodically.

I did think of polishing them, matter of fact, I will be using the info on the "under $50.00 thread" to polish my rotors this weekend. The thing is my kids, god love them, found chrome sliders on ebay , bought them, and are going to give'em to my for fathers day. Little bird told me. Thanks Punty. ktm_scott, I will hit you if I get stuck, Airborne350G, thanks man, I do have a Climer manual, and it is fairly clear, but as always there is something to learn from this great forums. Thanks all

Cheers,
