Default New battery ruined?

Left the ignition on all night, dead as a door nail now. Pulled it and it's on the charger, what are the odds it'll be ok?

once discharged, a battery will only retain the ability to charge to about 60% of it's previous capacity.

Charge it and use it, replace it at the first sign of weakness

make sure you charge it all the way ( charger...not a tender 3 to 5 amp charge rate for about 30 to 48 hours)
before trying to start the bike- a duff battery can stress and destroy the charging system

Might as well order yourself a Big Crank and install it now. Once they are pulled stone dead, they are never the same again..

Depends how important that starting your bike is when you want to go for a ride. If you have alternative motorcycles, you might just be fine leaving this one in for the nonce, see how it goes. If it fails to start, just move on to another bike.

If it's your only scooter, I agree with MKGuitar, try it, no harm there, but be prepared to make a sudden change of plans. But if you are a die hard rider, and you'd die if you didn't ride, then replace it now. Chalk the cost of the new battery up to experience.

I will tell you that I've run many batteries flat in my time, recharged them...slowly... never a problem again. Were it me, I'd do the same thing with this one, keep on truckin'...but that's me, not you.

This is on a 14 right? In my experience, the bike will shut down when it reaches a certain level of discharge so it probably never got to the "dead as a door nail" stage - charge it and have it load tested - then you will know what is left.

It is a '14. I pulled it and put it on a motorcycle battery charger on my bench. In an hour it indicated that it was fully charged.

Went ahead and installed it and it fired right up. Hoping there is something to what you said.

Drop by a shop or over auto parts store - pull or disconnect and do a load test - then you will KNOW the condition.

Yeah, I will, but we have a ride planned at 2:00 PM today. Gonna risk it for now and keep my fingers crossed.

That fact that it charged so quickly bothers me. I'm hoping it's what you said about the '14's.
