Dies at Stop Light
I've recently purchased a 92 Ultra Classic and have probably put close to 2,000 miles on it since I bought it. While stopped at a traffic light the bike idles fine with no indication of problems. I start to give it gas to take off and it just dies. Nothing. Acts like I lose all power. No oil pressure light, no neutral light, no electrical whatsoever. I'll turn the ignition switch a couple times and after what seems an eternity my oil pressure light comes on, the bike starts and off I go. This has happened twice. This happened one other time while slowing down at a light when I heard a loud hum from the rear speakers. On occassion I've heard a hum when I first start up. Thought I had a bad ground with the stereo and speakers so I pulled all the fuses to the pod and radio. This electrical trace problem was going to be my winter project. Been riding fine till yesterday. Could I have some kind of ground problem with the throttle since all instances have involved using the grip in some form or other?

RE: Dies at Stop Light
my 07 SG does this same sort of thing. Its fine while riding but when I pull in the clutch long enough for the R's to drop down below 1k, themotor shuts off. If I'm at speed I letout the clutch and it starts back up (the bump effect). I had it in the shop for this and the said they flashed the ECU and did some other things. It was ok after that for about 1,000 miles and now its doing it again.
What's the deal???

Same thing
I have a '92 Ultra and it did the same thing today. Got to a stop sign, died and I operated the switch a few times, nothing. All of a sudden the oil light came on and it was fine. I thought it might have had a weak main relay or something. I'm gonna check the fuses. I put a brand new battery in it yesterday, so I know the connections are good and clean. Hopefully it won't do it again. If you hear any answer, let me know. Thanks.
