Default Chopped Tour Pak Backrest Template

Anybody have a Template for drilling the six holes on the tour pak lid for a Chopped
Tour Pak Backrest Pad? I went to the Dealer today and they couldn't find one. They tried a bunch of different part #'s and nothing showed up on the computer. I want to install a Chopped Street Glide Backrest Pad on my King Tour Pak. It looks like I have to drill into each side of the recess area (2 holes-each side) and 2 holes on the flat side of the lid. Any Ideas?

I also have been thinking can this be done, as I think it is a cleaner look.

If you find the template please scan it for others. Any pictures of the process would be handy too.
Anyone have a setup like this on a King Tourpak on their bike now?
Thanks
Leroy

There are no templates for that backrest.
At least there wasn't with my setup.
My backrest pad slid right into the already drilled holes of my chopped tour pack.
Both parts were new, in the box...straight from the HD dealer.

There's a difference in the lids?
I did not know that.
I thought the only difference was one being shorter.

Lids and bottoms for that style pak have the same shape. You can use an old lid on a new or chopped bottom and vise versa. Some older and after market lids are not pre drilled. I'm also working on getting a template to mount a SE backrest on an older pak I found.

I did it without a template. I took several measurements and carefully laid the holes out on blue painters masking tape applied to the tour pak. After all the holes were drilled I did end up having to elongate a couple of them but in the end it turned out fine.

A source at the dealer provided this list of backrests that use the same template for mounting.

52201-86b
52274-94a
52892-98
51634-06
51725-06

If anyone comes up with a template I would gladly contribute to the cause for a copy. I know it can be done without a template - It worked well for the luggage rack. With the curved surfaces on the cover, it increases the margin for error a little more than I am willing to chance. Maybe as a last resort if no template is found.

Default Chopped Tour Pak Backrest Template

I just got off the phone from HD Customer Service and they told me there is no such
thing. She also tried the Tech Side and they had nothing. She said I should go back
to the dealer and have him contact a service rep and see if he can help. Looks like HD
has little tiny fairies that come in the night to make the holes magically appear. Can
any HDForum member that has a Copped Tour Pack Stencil the six Mounting Holes for
the Backrest Pad? Looks like other members are interested in it to and maybe put it
Mods Section.

It's so flippin frustrating when they give you some BS answer. Here is a scan of the installation instructions from my backrest pad. They will still claim it doesn't exist or is not available. It's not rocket science, it's just a piece of paper that has little retail value so when it comes to effort it's not worth looking for .... I offered to buy it but they were nit interested. Maybe this will help you.
