Had the same thing happen to me. Ended up being a missing star washer for the ground / -ve cable from the starter to the exhaust bracket that used to be on the motor.

 

My 03 EG Standard cut out twice while in a turn. Not cool to be in a turn without power. Bike was only 3 months old. The dealer increased my idle slightly and the problem has never returned in the last 28K miles.
