Default Rider Backrest Cable Routing

The drawing in the instructions for installing the Harley adjustable rider backrest is a little vague. Is this cable routed correctly? When the seat is installed the cable is visible on the left side and it looks like it will vibrate a rub mark on the fender.

I drilled a small hole in the back of the bracket there and wired tyed the cable to it. That kept it under seat and no one can see it. And yes it still rubbs the paint under the seat,

A small piece of snyder Paint Guard film, or similar product, applied where the cable touches the fender will protect your paint. I have also temporararily used a few peices of vinyl electrical tape for protection until I could get some of the other film.

Dealer installed mine and found the paint was rubbed off under the seat....had to put some padding under the cable to prevent futher damage......yes it sucks, especially if I was to get a solo seat it would show

Thanks everyone. I'll put a little pad under the cable.

Thanks everyone for your input someone forwarded me a picture of the cable connected with the seat off and it all came together. I wonder how much Harley spends on making these directions that they know makes everything so confusing that people have to take into their dealers.

Default Cable Routing for Adjustable Rider Backrest

I have a an 08 RKC that I can't seem to get the cable routed through the oval slot in the frame cross-member plate, because there is a smaller hole in another plate above that is just below the bottom of the oval slot. Cable is not flexible enough to bend to try to get through the whole. Had to route the cable on the outside of the tubular frame. Any suggestions? Instructions not very helpful.

Thanks,

Randy
