Default velva ride motor mount

I atempted to install the velva ride front mount I bought for my 06 ultra and had a problem trying to remove the old mount. I did as they suggest in the directions and put a bottle jack under the motor to lift it some so you can remove the old and install the new mount. I lifted the motor to the point I was afraid that the gas tank would pop off. I could not get the old one out... so I put everything back together. Anyone done this and have any tricks to get this done?

Thanks
Rick

Here's the trick to it. The directions are WRONG. It's not a bottle jack. It's a BOTTLE OF JACK. Hope this helps.[sm=alcoholic.gif]

There are 2 bolts behind the center monut that stablize and secures to a bracket , yes there a bitch to reach, I have had the monut out several time on the 2000 RG ,If there is a oil cooler and the regulator loosen it where you can work.

Turbo54

when you refer to the center mount are you talking about the one under the gas tank or the one the front motor mount attaches to?

Thanks

In order to remove the front mount ( I assume the front lower) You will need to remove regulator bolts & twist it to the side. If you have a oil cooler you may have to loosen it off also. Then support lower part of engine with jack or whatever. Remove the two bolts that hold it to the frame & remove the long center bolt from the top, you may have to (loosen, not totally remove) the mount bracket to the engine to gain enough room to remove the old mount, jack up motor then remove mount. Make sure to center the mount good prior to retightening back. GOOD LUCK

When you do get the new mount installed I would be extremely interested in knowing how much vibration it removes from what we consider normal.
