Not really. You can undo the bolt and "jack" up the motor and slide out the mount and then reinstall new mount. Just make sure it is put in the right way. The mount can look confusing.
use a small "Bottle" jack to jack the engine up, after you loosen the bolt. I took off the mount to the engine also..made extra working room..very easy...
thanks for the replies. I do have a service manual but can't find a nything on motor mounts.
It's been several months since I replaced my front motor mount so I'm not positive about finding information in the '04 HD Service Manual, but I do recall that there is nothing specifically identified regarding R&R of the mount. It may be included in a larger section dealing with engine removal or somthing comparable.
IIRC, I removed the two nuts to get the voltage regulator out of the way after unplugging the electrical connection from the stator.
Then there are three bolts (one from the top and two from the bottom) that attach the mount to the engine/frame.
As mentioned earlier, removing the bolt/nut that attach the top motor mount link makes the job easier.
Not difficult to do at all, just not much information easily accessible in the SM.
Also, I used the "D" version HD mount. It will probably come with a dab of yellow paint on one side; it's that side of the mount that is on the top when installed.
