I'm having difficulty removing the headlight chrome trim ring on my Ultra Classic. I want to clean the lens. I was told to remove the bottom screw and the trim ring should come right off. The problem is I also have an eyelid on the headlamp. I saw a YouTube video of a Fat Boy where you have to turn the trim ring to 5 o'clock before pulling it off. That doesn't work on the Ultra. Do I need to get the eyelid out of the way first?

simply clip to the back of the trim ring, with a wire clip. Maybe try turning it a little further or different direction. Could be hanging up on something?

 

If you have the 'French' style trim ring, remove the small bolt/nut at the bottom, pull apart at bottom, pull outward lightly, and remove towards the top.
Onto the regular trim ring, remove the Phillips screw at the bottom and then pull out from the bottom. It can be difficult but it can be done.
