trim ring

I just swapped the headlight trim ring on my new Street Glide. I looked over the new one and then removed the trim ring on the headllight. I heard the springclip pop loose and then put it in the new ring and installed it. Everything looks good, but I don't see the function of the clip. When I remove the ring now it comes off ok and goes back on ok, but I don't hear the pop. Am I missing something?

are you sure you didn't get trapped in one of the lost episodes of the twillight zone? happens to me since the doctor told me to drink one glass of red wine at bedtime, so i drink two to wash down the xanax. and my scizophrenic twin brother who is named jim could probably tell you what happened. hope this helps, jim.
