Default Not the starter I think

Had earlier post about bike not starting at times. It would start run to store then wouldn't start when I come out. After checking my grounds and terminals still no good. Thinking time for new starter. Buddy comes over toys with neg terminal on battery started great. Ran great started couple then nothing. So I go back in moved ECM boom started. Ran pulled in no start. Moved ECM again started. Seems like if I reposition the ECM bike starts up. But then nothing. Thinking loose connection any ideas how I should handle it.
Thanks guys appreciate the help

year/model?

regardless of year/model when you have a no start- check to see if you have voltage to the solenoid ( little green wire), when you push the starter button.

that will tell us if the fault is in the primary starter system( switches, relay, wiring), or the secondary (starter, solenoid, battery cables)

I will venture a guess that even though nothing appears to be loose or frayed, there ia a bad connection somewhere. If wiggling the ECM makes it start, there is a bad connection somewhere around it.

Take a good look at the pin connectors, and look for a frayed wire.

Not uncommon for a bent pin or a frayed wire. Could have a bad connector lock not keeping the pins from moving around. See if the tabs are bent or broken usually telling if its been tampered with before. Wires and pins can be fixed

Does the starter ever lock up and grind or does it just turn over without firing or just even turn over?
