Default Vrsca with power commander iii

I just bought (a couple months ago) a 2004 VRSCA from a buddy at work. It rides great and I love it, but...it is sucking on gas, even for a bike. I ride easy, back and forth to work mostly, and I am getting 30 - 33 MPG. The bike has the stock style pipes on it with the baffles removed, screaming eagle air filter, and a power commander III in it. I am trying to reprogram the power commander to increase the fuel economy, but I have no idea what I am doing with it or when I look at the maps, what all of it means or what to change. He has since moved so he is no help. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I have a SERF (not dyno tuned), TAB baffled slip-ons and an Amsoil air filter. I average 36-40 mpg depending how much I twist the throttle. It seems pretty much anywhere in the 30's is "normal" for a 'Rod as cig stated.

OK, I will check out the links. But the milage still seems a little low. My brother has a completely unmodified V-ROD out in Colorado getting mid 40's for mpg. Maybe the altitude is helping him out, and maybe he is a little light in the head from the altitude.

They key word on your brothers bike is "UNMODIFIED"
When you alter the exhaust and install a Screamin eagle air filter, what do you expect? More air requires more fuel.
