Default Dunlop 402 or Elite for a 94 Softail??

I need to replace my front tire on my 94 FLSTN. I know the Dunlop 402 is the standard tire, but I see the Dunlop Elite also comes in the same size. I know the Elite series is 'intended' for the later model Softails, but is it ok to use on the earlier models? My question is what are the differences in the two tires and are they enough that I should stick with the 402 for my bike? I was thinking of going with the Elite because I think aesthetically it is a nicer tire, and if it has other benefits I would go that way. Thoughts?

Go with the American Elites, you will be glad you did, it has all the latest technology & the sizes they added last year are specifically made to replace the 402s.

I have a 1996 FLSTN, and I put an elite on the back last summer. It has over 4k miles and looks new. I still have a Metz 880 on the front and will continue to run a Metz up front as I like the way it handles. The Elite front may be as good or better, but I'll never switch from the Metz.

Thanks guys, I am happy to hear there are no negatives to the Elite tire. I will go with that.
