Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. We need more details before we can help, like what year and model is your bike? Are the wheels you mention the type that are fitted with tapered roller bearings?

So the front end is off of a 2000 fxdx but the front wheel is off a 98 fxd with the timken style bearings in it I'm trying to make it all work on my twincam fxr

Thumbs up

That sounds fascinating! We'll need photos when you're on the road!

You need to imitate the set-up of an original FXR, which will probably require different spacers either side of the wheel, compared with a twincam installation. I'm doing the reverse, installing a late front wheel in an early Evo Glide, but have yet to tackle the spacers. Bear in mind that an FXR may also have had a front-wheel driven speedo drive unit. You can compare the parts used on-line here.

You'll find the members over in the Evo section will be interested in this and may be able to offer help. Call by!

FRONT WHEEL Fitment:

Caliper(s) spacers...
The 2000-later Narrow-glide wheel is approx 4.390" Rotor "Flange" to "Flange". I think your 99-earlier FXD wheel is approx 4.050" (you might measure to confirm). So (4.390-4.050) / 2 = .170" per side needed for caliper spacing (if the wheel is perfectly centered or close to). Adjust dimensions as needed.

Wheel/Axle spacers...
I think using the Stock 95-99 Narrow-glide spacers (if no speedo drive) should work out for you. I think that even from the factory the wheel might be off center ever so slight, so the Calipers should/might be able to adjust using the Caliper spacer dimensions above. If not, you'll have to adjust cal spacer Dims accordingly

Also...Remember to use 99-earlier brake rotors on the 98 wheel
.

Could you post a picture or describe to me how you did that? I'm struggling with the same thing!
