What the Heck is a Tanom Invader?
One of the hottest new “motorcycle” markets right now is the three-wheeled trike market. No, I’m not talking about two wheels in the back like training wheels, but rather two wheels up front that give more stability like a car. You have the new Polaris Slingshot, the Campagna T-Rex, the Can-Am Spyder, and the ever present Morgan 3-Wheeler, which also happens to be my favorite from the group.
All of these three-wheeled machines offer the driver a unique motorcycle style experience, but do so somewhat safer than being on just two wheels. Now however, there’s another manufacturer that wants its part of the three-wheel pie, Tanom.
Besides the dumb name, the Tanom Invader is essentially a Campagna T-Rex look alike. Seriously, if you put them up against one another, you’d have a hell of a time figuring out which is which. The Tanom Invader uses a Hayabusa engine, a sequential manual gearbox, and an open cockpit design.
It’s interesting looking, probably is super fast, but there’s just something that’s rubbing me the wrong way. I think it’s how the roof extends a foot above the passengers head’s, but I’m not sure if that’s the only thing I have a problem with. Maybe I’ll get to drive it sometime in the near future, but until then, check out what Jay Leno has to say about the Tanom Invader.
