Harley-Davidson Forums member Eric, who has been blogging since 2010, has written nearly 300 posts about his road trips on his blog Travel with E: Tales from the Road. Fellow Harley enthusiasts can also read his equipment reviews plus find links to National Park Rides and other sites that cyclists will enjoy.

Another highlight of the Travel with E blog is its collection of original travel videos of Eric’s Harley road trips. The accompanying road-trip photos are also quite spectacular.

“I have been riding motorcycles since I was 14 and I’ve had my own motorcycle for more than 35 years,” says Eric. “I started off by learning and riding dirt bikes, an invaluable experience that carries over to street riding.” At the age of 16, Eric purchased his first street bike, much to his mother’s horror. “I survived those first couple years because of luck and the knowledge I had from dirt bike riding. At 18, I purchased my first big bike, a Honda CB750, and I owned that for 20 years. During that time I also purchased a Honda V65 and I also owned that for 20 years.”

‘What I like is how good [Harley] bikes are right out of the box.’

In 2009, Eric bought a Harley-Davidson Road King and within 18 months had put more than 37,000 miles on it. He says it is one of the most comfortable bikes he has owned, and by November 2012, his Road King  had more than 62 thousand miles on it, having covered 14 states and 19 national parks.

Now the proud owner of a 2011 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited, Eric says this bike is meant for serious touring. You can read more about his opinion of the motorcycle and the modifications he’s made to it here. “What I like is how good [Harley] bikes are right out of the box, but I’ve added things that make it better for me, and safer.”

By August 2015, Eric had passed the 100,000-mile mark on his two Harleys, having ridden 62,000 on his Road King and over 38,000 on his Electra Glide. “Both bikes have been a pleasure despite what I’ve read on the Internet,” he says. “I would say Harley makes a very reliable motorcycle.” We could not agree more.
