A Lean, Mean 1999 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide Build
When it comes to a build, the starting point can matter a lot. The base ride that is used determined the direction of the build, the cost of the repair and modifications, and how much work is needed to get it exactly where you want it. Starting with the wrong base can be detrimental to the cost, time, and effort needed to get the ride where it needs to be. In fact, starting with the wrong base can ruin the entire build. That’s why knowing where a project started matters so much.

Today we’ll looking at the build that has been taken on by HDForums member Chris, who is also known by his username cggorman. The ride is a 1999 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide that he picked up in April of 2015. It had previously been owned by a millennial who used it as a commuter ride in California. It had lots of miles, bit was well maintained. The only major modifications it had at the beginning were an emissions delete and a Mikuni HSR42 carburetor.
The first thing that Chris did to the ride was get rid of the excess chrome and add some more aggressive pipes. Soon after he located a nice LePera Silhouette Solo Seat. Since then, he had accomplished so much more! Go check out his build thread and show your support!
