Fire-Damaged Harley Davidson Motorcycle Pulls Lazurus Act
Severely burned and sold off at a salvage auction, this relatively new Harley motorcycle now looks as good as new.
Fire is one of the more devastating disasters that can wreak havoc on just about anything, leaving little – or nothing – in its wake. We’ve seen this time and time again over the years, with forest fires destroying trees, homes, and other belongings, and fires are also quite common in the world of automobiles, which are quite flammable by nature. That’s also true of Harley motorcycles.
Heck, they use internal combustion engines feeding on gasoline, which is quite flammable all on its own accord. However, reviving this poor, severely burned Harley-Davidson wasn’t too much trouble for the folks behind the YouTube channel BelarusCustoms.
Though this particular video is a bit short on details – and words, in general – it’s pretty fascinating to watch this 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle being brought back to life, from the day it was delivered to the finished product. The folks behind the project purchased the burned bike from a Copart auction in the U.S. and proceeded to have it shipped to Europe, after which its revival was documented in this rather interesting video.
As one might imagine, that process began by removing all of the burned bits that can’t be saved, or at least, need to be swapped out for cosmetic reasons. It’s unclear what caused this Harley to catch on fire in the first place, but the resulting carnage is enough to turn most prospective buyers away, however. Our hosts clearly aren’t intimidated by the daunting task, and proceed to disassemble the bike, clean up and repaint certain pieces, while replacing others along the way.
That includes the engine itself, which needed a good scrub and and some new parts to make it look as good as new, and our hosts went to the trouble of giving it some new internals as well. Pretty much all of the wiring was toast, as one would expect, which is also true of all the gaskets and rubber bits. With the frame repainted, all of the new and rejuvenated parts can go back on – a tedious yet rewarding process. Now that this process is nearly complete, one would be hard-pressed to tell that this Harley ever suffered any kind of damage, because it looks almost brand new – a testament to the folks behind the project.
