Who’s Going to Laconia Bike Week?
Sturgis, Daytona and Laconia are the top motorcycle rallies in the U.S. but which one is the oldest? If you guessed Laconia, you’d be right.
Bikers have been riding to Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire for over a century now with no signs of slowing down.
The official rally and bike week is now in its 93rd year and this year’s event runs from June 11-19. Aside from being the world’s oldest, it is also one of the largest motorcycle rallies with nearly 300,000 expected at this year’s gathering.
I’ve been to Sturgis and Daytona but never to the Weirs, as the locals like to call it, and this week I’ll be riding there from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and reporting on this year’s rally.
Hill climbs, dirt track races, concerts – whatever happens this week in New England you will find it here with photo galleries and updates daily.
If you have any advice for the best bars, campsites, food, rides and fun – drop us a line and we’ll share your best tips. What’s your best advice for packing gear?
I managed to get a tent, sleeping bag, clothes and gear in my backpack, but I still think I over packed. One thing you do not want to forget is rain gear! They don’t call it “Rainconia” for nothing.
