Massive Crash in AMA Pro Flat Track

Massive Crash in AMA Pro Flat Track

AMA Pro Flat Track racing is perhaps one of the coolest forms of racing on the planet. Period. It features motorcycles riding around a dirt track at over 100 miles per hour, sideways. The riders are mere inches away from one another, and when things go awry, they tend to go bad quickly and catastrophically.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been racing for years, or months, crashes will happen. As pro-racer Shawn Baer found out earlier this year at the Indy Mile. Everything for Shawn seems to be going well, but then his bike starts to drift out towards the wall. He then doesn’t seem to notice just how close he is, and that’s when the back tire of the motorcycle catches the wall and the motorcycle just explodes.

It’s amazing that none of the other racers caught any pieces of the bike while they went around. Thankfully, Shawn walked away from the crash with only minor injuries. It just goes to my earlier point, Flat Track racing is still flat out amazing.

Check out Baer’s post-crash interview here.

From our good friends at AMA:

Watching AMA Pro Flat track on your computer screen is one thing but experiencing it in person is a kin to witnessing the 8th wonder of the world. These racers defy belief, piloting motorcycles on the razor’s edge of chaos and control. While NASCAR and Formula 1 have four wheels on the pavement, these talented professionals do it with only two and one of them is not even planted the entire time.

The exciting 2015 AMA Pro Flat Track concludes this November 20th in Las Vegas, NV at the Orleans Arena. On November, 21st, stay for the Superprestigo of the America’s where the world’s best flat track racers will compete for all-inclusive glory.
