Ever Mounted Your Own Tires?
This morning, I read a post on Reddit about a guy mounting his own tires, and the thread title—“Mounting your own tires sucks”—pretty much sums up his thoughts on the job.
Apparently the first one took him three or so hours, but after he got the technique down, he managed to get the second one installed in under an hour. The video below illustrates a plastic bag trick and makes it look like a snap, but this is a vintage wheel and I’m not sure how well it would translate to modern motorcycles. Mounting my own tires isn’t something I’d consider doing—this is one of those jobs I’d rather pay for than struggle with—but it made me curious about the brave folks who undertake this challenge.
