Spotlight on Lady Riders: SunnySprinkle
This story comes courtesy of Harley Davidson:
A few years back I lost some very important people in my life. My father who was the light of my life, died unexpectedly at a young age. Right after that, cancer took my grandpa, my stepson was killed in a horrific auto accident and I lost my 15 year job as a Banking & Finance manger, all within a 3 year period. I just gradually fell apart and into depression. I had no interest in anything I had enjoyed before (boating, skiing, family or friends). I remember feeling as though I had completely lost myself & became deeply depressed. One morning while having coffee, I was flipping through a well know women’s magazine, and came across an ad for a Harley Davidson Sportster. That was the “first” motorcycle ad I had seen in a female magazine! I wanted to get on that motorcycle and just leave all my pain and problems behind. I pulled out the little insert with the bike on it, and put the picture on my refrigerator. That little ad changed my life forever. I didn’t tell anyone, not even my husband. I just signed up for the MSF course, passed and got my license. When my husband found out he was floored with excitement being a lifetime rider himself! Every spare second I have, I’m on my bike. Riding those curvy roads and just experiencing this kind of freedom has not only changed my life, it has healed my soul. On my 41th birthday my husband gifted me with a 02’Road King Classic. The whole riding experience renewed my outlook on life. It has also enriched and solidified my 14 year marriage. 5 yrs later after completing the MSF course, I average 10k miles a year and have seen the most beautiful parts of North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. We have made good friends and met some great people. I’m reminded each day that life is truly about our journey and relationships we make along our way. Riding has allowed me to make MY DIFFERENCE in my life again. Thank you Harley Davidson for placing your ad in a women’s magazine!
