Joan Jett Headlines 'Thunder in the Rockies' Labor Day Weekend

Colorado motorcycle rally features 2018 Harleys, ‘Ms. Hooters Contest,’ Full Throttle Saloon stars, Gary Allan, and so much more, Sept. 1-4.

Colorado is about to get a lot more rocky — and LOUD! — when legendary rocker Joan Jett rolls into town for the Thunder in the Rockies Bike Rally, which is set to happen Labor Day Weekend, September 1 through 4 in the city of Loveland. The majority of the weekend takes place at Colorado’s largest H-D dealership, Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson.

Not only will you be able to see Jett perform all of her timeless classics, from “I Love Rock and Roll” to “Ridin’ with James Dean,” and check out the new 2018 Harley-Davidson bikes, you’ll also catch plenty more badass biker-centric festivities, like stunt-bike riding by performance duo Insane O Riders as well as by Busted Knuckles, plus a few adult-friendly parties and performances such as the always popular Bikini Bike Wash.

The Thunder Mountain Amphitheater will host nightly musical acts, including hit-making country-music singer Gary Allan (Fri., Sept. 1), Texas Hippie Coalition (Sat., Sept. 2) and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Sun., Sept. 3). Sunday is also the day for the Forever Family Ride, a charity motorcycle ride for the Northern Colorado nonprofit Realities for Children. Hockey player Darryl Bootland of the Colorado Eagles will be the celebrity rider, and the first 200 riders registered will get tickets to the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts show that night.

“It’s a great group of people,” Bootland tells Times-Call Entertainment regarding the local motorcycle community. “A lot of them are Eagles fans, too.”

Not so family-oriented is the rally’s other entertainment: the Flaunt Girls from Tru TV’s Full Throttle Saloon performing nightly in the Grizzly Rose tent, beautiful ladies at the Bikini Bike Wash every afternoon, and the 2017 Ms. Hooters Thunder in the Rockies Contest on Saturday night.

Located about 50 miles north of Denver, Loveland is fondly known as “The Gateway to the Rockies.” Biker and local K99 radio personality Charley Barnes says it’s the starting point for one of the top five motorcycle rides in Northern Colorado.

“The Peak to Peak is probably the best ride around,” says Barnes. You may want to add it to your list of things to do while at the rally. After the Hooters contest, of course.
