What’s New For the 2025 Street Bob?
New engine, new electronics, and other goodies make the 2025 Street Bob a better value than before.
First off, the bad news: the budget-priced Softail Standard is no more. Harley-Davidson has slashed their entry-level Softail model for 2025, making the FXDB Street Bob its effective replacement. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. While the 2025 Street Bob is about $2,000 more expensive than the outgoing Softail Standard, that two grand buys you a lot of new goodies.
This short video from Riders Harley-Davidson of Trussville, Alabama breaks down all of the new changes for the 2025 Street Bob. First off, the big one – there’s only one engine choice, the 117 cubic inch Milwaukee Eight. The bigger engine is good for 98 horsepower and 120 lb/ft of torque in this trim, which should make this stripped-down bobber a pretty quick machine.
In case you’re wondering how to handle that much power, it’s good to know that traction control, ABS, and selectable ride modes are all standard on the 2025 Street Bob. Oh yeah, you get cruise control standard, too!

Additionally, the abbreviated riser gauge is gone, replaced by a conventional, full-size gauge. We’re a big fan of this update as well. It makes your bike’s vitals easier to read at a glance, and when you’re ready to customize, it’ll be much easier to install different handlebars or a riser with this more traditional setup. While the riser gauge looked cleaner, we prefer the more traditional look of a big round gauge between the handlebars.
The paint scheme has been simplified from last year, but we think the new Centerline Yellow paint (a $525 option) looks great. Additionally, the spoke wire wheels (an $800 option) may look very traditional as well, but they are all new as well. They’re a tubeless design, meaning that you won’t have to sacrifice performance or convenience for that classic spoked wire wheel look.
All in all, the new 2025 FXDB Street Bob presents a great value for would-be Softail owners. While it is more expensive than the entry-level model it replaces, the price difference more than makes up for the extras you get. Best of all, those extras don’t impede your ability to use the Street Bob as a blank canvas to build the motorcycle of your dreams.
