I'm not so sure about putting a phone up on the handlebars. I've lost my phone off the tank mounted with velcro. I paid a lot for my iphone and to replace it without a contract is like $500. Seems kind of foolish to put a $500 phone on my shaking handlebars in a squeeze clamp and then let the wind drive dust into all the ports while I ride.
I bought a mount from www.cyclonecustom.com. It keeps my iphone out of the elements and has pads top and bottom to protect it from vibration. Looks good too.
Rocky, the Cyclone Custom thing is definitely cool. However, I have been using that Ram X mount for my phone (which is insured) and it is like a rubber mounted bear trap. It even takes a bit of effort removing the phone with 2 hands. Also, the phone is easily accessed and I never have to take my eyes off the road.
I just put the lifeproof mount on the bars and on the move tech setup in the fairing. So far it works great just had to put the 30 pin to lightning connector on vibration isnt bad after warm up I did use a wire tie as a back up.
The Rider's Claw is a great addition to hold securely your smart phone device, or MP3 player. In addition to providing another piece of chrome to your bike, the device mounts to either clutch or brake side of bike. Install video is available on site. I wanted something that would remain secure, look good and not weaken with the sun's rays on long hot summer days. It is a bit pricey although the old saying remains true, "You Get What You Pay For". If calling ask for Ken and tell him Frank from Havertown PA sent you. He's great at focusing on the customers needs. He's good people. http://www.ridersclaw.com

I just placed an order for the Ram X for my bike!!
Another really nice-looking mount - and I have to agree that you get what you pay for - is the eCaddy. Available for all kinds of phones, also GPS and iPod/MP3. Family owned biz too. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/moto...-phone-mounts/
They have a good product. I like the fact that is uses a garmin ball set up and it has a locking nut on the back side so it wount vibrate and move around on you when you get it set just right.
I thought about mounting my iPhone and I have the magnetic based pouch which I use for the Walkman. So, I have a belt clip for the phone with Otterbox cover, and a Scala rider Teamset Bluetooth on my helmet. The Bluetooth works with Google Maps and the sweet young thing speaks in my ear the directions I might need. I have the Ram Mount for a Garmin GPS too. No risk.
