I wanted to be able to charge my Android phone but not have to deal with the scanning of the MP3s that does not work on the Boom system. I also sometimes with the marginal connector on my phone would hit a bump and it would try to scan it again and interrupt what I was listening to.
To fix this I bought a splitter for the USB port and a USB cable that was power only for the phone. With a USB drive on one side for music and the power only cable to the phone to charge works great. If wanted can still listen to phone music via Bluetooth. Here is a picture of the setup everything ordered via Amazon. Maybe this is obvious to everyone but thought I would still share. I have an Galaxy note 4 and its just too big to fit in my small storage areas on my roadglide. My bike came with a pig tail charger for my battery tender, so I just bought a lighter adaptor (as I call it) for the pig tail and let my android sit in the saddle bag charging.

 

Mine did the "scanning thing too, but with my IPhone 6. I took it to the dealer to have them fix it under warranty. All they did was pull the main fuse, and put it back in, and it stopped the "scanning thing, and has worked like it should since.
