Progressive Shocks for Ultra Limited Low
I have a 2015 Ultra Limited Low. It has the what Harley calls it's best rear shocks. Kind with the ****. First I want to know if it's worth the money to change to Progressive 944 shocks on the rear. And just how much does the ride improve. I weigh 160 and wife is 120. We have removed the trunk and don't plan any real long trips anymore. No I'm not going to change the front forks. Just had the oil changed and used the stock Harley Type E. Wife rides about 25 percent of the time and maybe have 50 pounds in saddle bags. Which ones do I want. Standard, or Heavy duty. And I want to maintain close to original ride height. Any help is appreciated.
I have the non-low ultra limited and changed the rear to 944's. It was a nice and noticeable improvement over the stock shocks. You'll probably want standard and not the heavy duty. I'm under 200 and have considered getting the shocks redone for standard.
I do like the 944's.
I do like the 944's.
I had a Road King, 2004, and initially purchased the 13" Progressive 444 shocks for it and was really pleased with the improved ride and handling. I was nearly on tip-toes with bike and read about the 944 shocks and their design to lower the bike 1" when you sat on it. After money changed hands with an online seller I installed the 944s and like the lowering effect they had but the ride was terrible, even after various adjustments to them. I called Progressive support twice and both times different reps stated that the 944s did not ride as well as the 444 series shocks. I was really disappointed in them compared to the 444 series, which I should have kept.
I have 2016 SGS - yes stock shocks are a very hard ride if you are not 275 lbs. My wife was in tears with a short ride.
