SGS gas cap cover won't stay closed
New 14 SGS 2.5 K miles on her and the dagum push button gas cover wont stay shut.
Every time i hit a bump it just pops open. Kinda annoying to say the least.
Has there been any chatter on the forum on this issue or is there a known fix?
I live 85 miles to the closest dealer and don't want to make a trip for nothing.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Likely the latch on the button mechanism isn't fully engaging the catch on the console. When you hit a bump, that's enough for the latch to slip free of the catch…and the door to pop open.
There should be a little bit of 'give' when you close the fuel door. When you push the door down firmly to latch it, when you release the door it ought to spring back (up) a little. If it doesn't spring back, this could be your issue--there's not enough free space for the latch to properly close. The idea is, as you push the door down the latch slides into the catch. When you let go of the door the door comes up a little and causes the latch to apply pressure to the catch, keeping the door firmly closed.
If there's no 'give' (spring back) in the door, figure out why. If there is give but the door doesn't stay closed, then you might need to file/sand either the latch, or the catch (or both) where they contact each other, to get a little more tolerance so the latch will slide across the catch a little better.
I hope that makes sense.
For the hell of it, remove the button and lube the button mechanism with some graphite lock-lube. Get the lube in/around all the moving parts. Reinstall the button. Then, if pushing the door down firmly when you close it won't keep it closed, consider the rest.

Thanks for the Input.
I'm a little leery of taking apart and modifying it do to it still being under warranty. But I will remove the button and lube the mechanism today, Thanks Alan.
Sounds like i need to take it in for a quick look and adjustment. Not that I mind the ride to the HD store, but i hate having to go cause I have too ,not want to. Thanks for the reply's.
