Drilling inner fairing

Drilling inner fairing
I need to drill a 7/8 hole in my inner fairing? I've drilled small holes in the inner fairing of my previous bikes but nothing this big. The only bit i have that's big enough is a spade bit. How will this work on the type material the inner fairing is made of, will it cut through smoothly or get too hot and melt through, making a messy and uneven hole? I hate to go out and buy a 7/8 drill bit but I would if that's what it takes to drill a smooth even hole.

I would expect a spade bit to result in "blow out" on the back of the fairing, especially in thin material. I wouldn't risk it. Even a standard bit may chip or blow out a bit on the back. For thin materials like a fiberglass fairing, nothing beats a step drill bit (or uni-bit) such as this set from Harbor Freight.
I have a set and they work great--I use them all the time. A great investment in my opinion.

My experience with that isn't very good. The adapters don't stay in the power port very well, sometimes breaking the connection. I have my mount on the left side of my bars because I like it better on my left so I need something closer to my devices rather than running a cable across my bars anyway. The 3br powersports usb panel tapp provides a solid waterproof connection combined with their red band cables.
