NAV system success
I've seen that too, a lot. Also, while in upstate NY, Maine and eastern provinces of Canada, the unit often thought I had driven off the road I was on, even on the Transcanada Highway. Not sure if it was a road database error or problem with visible satellites. Otherwise it works pretty good for me now that we can cancel the next waypoint so we don't have to start the nav right away for a trip.

hoping for another update....
I've read several other posts about adjusting the volume with the VCB, I'll have to try this again...

It's a little quirky, but once you get the hang of it, you learn the traps.
My biggest problem is that I divided my trips up by the day. Say I ended up at a hotel, I would load the next days map and take off. I hadn't realized that it wasn't showing me at the hotel when the trip started so it would try to redirect me back to where it thought the hotel was suppose to be in order to start the trip. I figured out the "skip the next way point" option pretty quickly and that solved the issue. I also use the Harley Ride Planner and I think it's an awesome program.

I have not had the issue of the turn direction differing from the voice prompt... for those with this issue: Is the map view set for north up?
For the OP, the Nav voice volume can be adjusted while the Nav voice is speaking, with the volume toggle button, without having to go through the menus.
So far, I haven't had any real issues with the Nav system. The only issue I've come across was my fault for not creating enough waypoints in a section of a route where I assumed it would follow the main roads to a destination... instead it took a lot of very small residential streets instead of the main roads, but again, during that little stretch, I didn't force it to take the roads I wanted; a couple of more waypoints and I could've avoided that - that's what I get for assuming

I've also had pretty good luck with the Nav system, but have adopted a couple of "best practices" that seems to help:
Make sure that your routing software (I use Basecamp) and the GPS are set to the same settings... for instance "quickest route" or "avoid highways, etc. That will help ensure that they will calculate the route similarly.
When I force an alteration in the route calculated by the routing software (insert a waypoint), I don't place it in an intersection. Instead, I place it just past the intersection or turn. I found that the GPS is really sensitive to where the "dot" is located and may tell you to briefly turn the wrong way then send you back the other way. It drove me crazy on the Blue Ridge Parkway until I figured out this trick.
As others have mentioned, learn how to skip waypoints... it will save your sanity. Also, now when I map something from a known waypoint (hotel, home, restaurant, etc.), I don't include that waypoint on my map. I just start from the next waypoint, which will reduce the need to "skip waypoint".
Hope this helps!

Just back from the "European HD forum M&G '15" trip and I'm sure that I caused most of the problems I encountered myself.
But I disagree with DaveVn007 when it comes to pronunciations. When riding through Germany the street and town names are spoken in an alien language and names are unrecognizable. For a system that is sold abroad it's a disgraceful shortcoming.

Shall I put the Zumo on now???? I was gonna rely on the Boom Nav, but.......Ich verstehe Sie nicht!!
I did this recently on a trip to Yosemite, and also did it for Laughlin I believe... I split the trip into three different trips. Each trip starting from the hotel we arrived at the day before, and it worked perfectly. For example, day one trip, the end point was Comfort Inn in Bishop. Day two trip's start point was Comfort Inn in Bishop, and end point was hotel in Three Rivers. Day 3 trip, start point was hotel in Three Rivers, etc... I used Basecamp for the trip creation.
