NAV system success
I've been reading a lot about people having issues with the NAV system, so I had prepared myself for the worst. To my surprise, the system worked perfectly. For anyone interested, here's what I did:
I use Tyre to create the route. I use strategic waypoints to try to take the variability out of the route. Most may know this already, but when you create a route in these programs (Type, MapSource, etc.) they don't store your exact route..just the waypoints. So you can "force" whatever GPS you're using to create the correct route (or better your chances) by creating strategic waypoints. Some devices will use different algorithms to route, so the carefully placed waypoints help force the route you want.
I saved the route as a .gpx file from Tyre and copied it to the root of a USB drive. When importing into the Boom system, I did NOT "select all", instead I just selected the route and imported it. Then I went back and imported the other routes I created, one at a time.
I was able to stop and get gas, and the NAV system picked up right where I left off. I was impressed by the quality of the text-to-speech. The street names were spoken correctly (much better than the unit I have in my car).
I haven't played around with all of the settings, but I liked the 1/2 mile advance notice of turns (or waypoints) - not sure if that's configurable.
I also wasn't sure how to adjust the volume of the voice commands. Turns out you access it via Home -> Setup -> Feedback Settings.
The one weird thing that I thought was a problem but actually isn't.... during my ride, all of a sudden my music would switch to the weather band... seemed like a strange glitch. Turns out there is a setting that controls whether or not you want the unit to switch to WB when a Weather Alert is broadcast. I had it "On".
Overall, very impressed with the Navigation system.

It's a little quirky, but once you get the hang of it, you learn the traps.
My biggest problem is that I divided my trips up by the day. Say I ended up at a hotel, I would load the next days map and take off. I hadn't realized that it wasn't showing me at the hotel when the trip started so it would try to redirect me back to where it thought the hotel was suppose to be in order to start the trip. I figured out the "skip the next way point" option pretty quickly and that solved the issue. I also use the Harley Ride Planner and I think it's an awesome program.

I am in Rapid City, SD riding the Black Hills area.
Not a single issue with the HD Nav system so far.
I created all of my rides with HD Ride Planner, exported them to a USB stick, then imported them into the HD system.
Every route I have used has worked perfect. No wrong turns, even that arrow icon at the bottom that some have had issues with showed the correct direction on every turn.
Sturgis is getting pretty busy already!

Always listen to the audio prompts, the written directions at the bottom of the NAV display will lie to you. The NAV system will say "Turn left" but the screen with show you turning right. Go figure..................

I too made a "trip" for each days destination and the Map seems accurate.
On one road the GPS kept telling me to take a slight right every time there was a road crossing. This command was given approximately 15 times in a half hour then back to normal.
On another route going down a state road the gps told me to turn right in half a mile from the road I was on to the road I was on and the road was as straight as could be with no intersections.
Between Stanley and Challis ID I searched POI's for Gas Stations and it never showed Challis.
It's not perfect but it works.

The biggest problem I have with the nav system is the outdated maps. Just ride into St Louis and you will find out how bad that can be. Several other roads on a 2500 mile road trip not correct either. They need to update the map pronto.
Just back from the "European HD forum M&G '15" trip and I'm sure that I caused most of the problems I encountered myself.
But I disagree with DaveVn007 when it comes to pronunciations. When riding through Germany the street and town names are spoken in an alien language and names are unrecognizable. For a system that is sold abroad it's a disgraceful shortcoming.
