Default 103 vs 117. How much faster?

After trying to find comparison videos of these 2 engines with no luck, I humbly ask your opinions on this... I have a 2014 Ultra. I bought the bike used. I know it has a stage 1 installed. It has the upgraded filter and HD street cannons slip-ons. I am ASSUMING it has been tuned.....read on. My buddy has a 2018 CVO street glide with the 117. His bike it bone stock. From a 10 mph roll, I can jump out a bike, maybe a bike and a half and then slowly pull through 3rd gear. Once in 4th and 5th, he will gain a little and start reeling me in. My question is how well does a 103 compare to a 117, or even a 114. Would a stage 1 kit and a tune give it enough to beat/keep up with a 117??

And both bikes are set up pretty much the same, solo seats and no trunk on either bike while performing these "tests"

Only other thing I could think of is "gearing" being steeper on mine giving me a low speed edge. But I dont know how to even check that? I am just trying to find out if there has been any motor work done to my bike. Thanks.

Lots of variables here, your 103 could have engine work that you are not aware of, a lot depends on the rider also, Switch biked ride his 117, let us know what happens.

According to the dyno runs on fuelmotousa.com the two bikes are pretty much a dead heat in the power department. Curves are different but peak numbers are darn close. So it comes down to rider skill...rider weight ...bike weight. Like the other guy said ...swap bikes and do it again.

As stated, there are so many variables. Put YOUR butt in the other seat and see how you like how it runs.
Case in point, my brother-in-law has a 103. I wanted to know how the ol' 88ci held up against it. We swapped bikes. Mine has cams, a Tmax ECU, duals, and a few other tweaks. His has a Fuel Pak 3. I actually liked my bike better, but likely because I'm used to it.

I think his 103 fought off its knees better with more cubes than my 88ci, but I like the part-throttle responsiveness of my bike over his. Could be the throttle by wire, or it could be the tune-- or both. We always hear that each bike is different. Rings true in many more ways than one.
Tough question to answer.

I should have mentioned that we have switched bikes with the same results. As far as weight, I would imagine that the bikes are pretty darn close. But I cant say for sure. Rider weight is similar to. Both bikes ride pretty close to the same as they have the same low pro seat, same bars etc. We even have the same 4.5" windshield. My bike is lowered and his is stock if that could make a difference.

Did he happen to put an aftermarket set of mufflers on? It kills those engines on the bottom end. After I got my aftermarket cam and tune in a 114, I could smoke my buddy's CVO 117. When he got his engine built at FuelMoto they dyno'd it prior to doing the 128. It was 100hp/107tq because he had thrown on a set of V&H cans, and removed the baffles.

M8s don't like wide open exhaust, especially without at least a good tune

Enjoy a H-D for what it is. If you want HP and speed, there are '10s of beautiful ADVs, cruisers and sport tourers to chose from.

The gearing on both those bikes are the same too.

Thanks for that great advice. As I stated above. I was simply wanting to see if there was a chance there was some engine work done before I owned it. And I guess to own a HD, you must leave it stock and only cruise it. The millions of dollars spent on the aftermarket performance market must be against the true Harley enthusiast rules.
