Default Klock Werks Flare Windshield

Buddy had a new 11 1/2" KW windscreen, he didn't need it so he gave it to me. I installed it this morning and took a ride, not sure how I feel about it. The good, it seems like there's less wind buffering over the top and the light tint is cool too. The bad, the way the shield bends in the center it almost distorts the vision out the front and especially off to the sides. Has anyone else experienced this and is it something I will get used to? Any input or opinions would be welcome, thank you!

yes, there is a distortion, and they tell this when you visit their website, that being said, they're meant to be looked over, not through. If you have to look through it while riding, it's too tall...

O.K., thanks, as I mentioned I got it from a friend so I never looked at their website. And I can look over it but there are times you have to look through a windscreen and down lower, that's where the distortion is, mostly mid-screen and out toward the side. Thanks again...

I really like my short Klockwerks windshield. 100% correct about distortion but also 100% correct that I do not have to look through it for any reason.

There are some windshield makers who claim zero distortion but I do not recall the names. Perhaps Freedom Shields?

100% go with the 9" KW and you will not ever think about it again.

You will get used to it if it's not to high. Looking right in front of your wheel it will be distorted. Im 5 foot 10 and the 8 1/2 inch KW seems just a touch high. I'm afraid shorter one won't protect enough from the elements. The question is how far out in front of wheel should you not be looking through the shield?

Had a KW on former '09 FLHX & didn't care for it...swapped w/ LRS and that's all I buy now. Maybe your bud gave it to you for a reason...

I also just picked up a LRS shield, extremely happy with it for the price ($98 on Amazon for the 9" version).

Doesn't look as cool as the KW shields, but it does a mighty fine job sending the wind over my head and visibility through it isn't all that bad on the rare occasion you need to look through it (mostly parking lot or garage maneuvers).

I have a KW and a Memphis Shades and they both have terrible distortion. I can look over my windshield easily but I like the idea of being able to look through it if needed. I bought a Clearview Shield and it has NO distortion. I love it.
