Question 2020 FLHTK Water pump reliability

I have a 2020 FLHTK which replaced my 2014 FLHTK.
The 2014 went through two water pump replacements in its lifetime.
I was wondering what has been the experiences of owners of the 114 M8 water pump regarding longevity?
Have the issues with the earlier water pumps been addressed or are there still reliability issues with the M8 water pumps?

I think I might have read about one rider posting that he went through three of the newer generation pumps, but other than that, I haven’t read about any others. They seem to be reliable.

Thanks for the heads up - 3 sounds like a lot to go through - maybe it was an anomaly. Like you I haven't seen many posts about M8 Water pump failures.

I had to have mine replaced this summer, thankfully under (3rd party) warranty. 16k miles.

But anecdotal evidence like this isn't very useful or statistically valid.

You can always find people that have problems with literally everything but that information isn't actionable

True I won't get statistically valid information, but I can get a sense of how common the issue might be by the number of responses I get. This can give me a "feel" of the lie of the land.

I hear you, but it can get really expensive to "fix" things that aren't broken in an attempt to improve reliability, the list of potential problems that people have had with various aspects of these bikes - if that's your plan anyway.

I wasn't planning on fixing anything until it fails. I just wanted to gauge how likely that might be to happen.

My 2020 has 50k on it, no issues. Frankly it's the best bike I have ever owned. No issues...

How do you know that your pump is not working? As in, how would anybody know?
