Question AAWireless android auto dongle compared to motorola MA1

I had the issue of a comparison between the drop out performance of the AA wirelesss android auto dongle compared with the Motorola MA1 come up as a side issue in another thread so I thought I'd create a dedicated thread to this issue.
THere were conflicting reports on the drop out performance of the AA wireless dongle when compared to the Motorola MA1. I was hoping to get a clearer picture of which dongle is less prone to drop outs if possible.
Please advise as to your experience with either or both of these dongles.

I've had both.
AA Wireless was terrible. It did not get along with my bike at all. Dropped constantly.
Returned & bought the MA1 & it connected flawlessly & stays connected.
Two years on the MA1 now with no issues at all.

Wow - That's the exact opposite of what cosmic Razorback said in the other thread. He claimed the AAwireless was superior to the motorola. I look forward to hearing more replies - maybe we can come to some kind of consensus as to which is superior.

Based on research, reviews & even a recommendation from a friend with a G Wing when I first bought the AA, I thought the same as Cosmic
However, it just never worked properly on my bike from day one.
Maybe it was a lemon out of the box, I dont know.
What I do know is it didnt work for me & the Motorola does.

I have only owned and used the AA Wireless so I cannot compare to others.

It came recommended to me by a fellow HOG member 2 years ago.

The unit has worked flawless for me. At first it seemed difficult getting everything paired properly. The app helped streamline it.

I never even think about it anymore. Turn on the bike and presto they are paired almost instantly and work all day.

I transfer from one bike to the other depending on which one I ride.

I wish I could help troubleshoot but I am not that guy. I guess I got lucky or just hold my mouth right.

Best of luck finding what works best for you.

P.S. Having the phone unlocked when you power on the bike really helps.

Interesting in that i have had up to three Air2 Pro wireless adapters and one MA1. I started with the MA1 for the bike and later added two Air2Pros for my cars.

When I believed that the Air2Pro connected faster, I purchased an additional one for my bike. in my opinion, the Air2Pro does indeed connect much faster. Once it is set up, it just connects right away.

I have the same experience with my truck- start it and, it connects right away. In fact, they are set up for my wife's phone of mine. So, whoever starts the truck, or enters first, that is the phone that it connects too.

New truck for its own system, so, I kept the one out of that truck as a backup. Bottom line, both worked well - the AA Wireless connected faster.

You might want to try to reset the MA1 - clear the data and reconnect.

As some have stated and I have experienced as well, It really helps if the Phone and in my case the AA app are all up to date, Unlocked and the BT and Wi-Fi (AAWireless uses Wi-Fi ) are turned on.
AAWireless works fantastic in my Soundstream radio and the MA1 works great in my Ford. not so much the other way around.
They all have different hand shakes with Technology sometimes its just finding one that works with your particular old / new phone stereo setup if it is paired correctly

I can't speak to the AA dongle as I've never used one. I did purchase a Motorola MA1 for my 2017 Street Glide; it failed utterly with intermittent drops quickly becoming total failure to connect. I returned it and went wired, which worked perfectly right up until I traded the bike in.

I had decent luck with the Motorola dongle but every now and then it would disconnect. I tried the AA wireless dongle and it wouldn't stay connected for any length of time at all. I have no knowledge of the A2Air Pro adapter. If I have furter trouble I might give one a try.

I do like that the Motorola unit uses the large A style USB plug which matches the cord on my 23 Ultra Limited. A lot of others seem to use the USB C connection which requires an extra adapter for me. The cord on the Motorola is also hardwired instead of removable, which might be a good thing on a bike. To my knowledge the Motorola doesn't use a phone app. If there is one out there I'd like to know in case they have any firmware updates available.

I use AA Wireless with my Soundstream HDHU9813RG. It works great. Connects quickly. I don't have any issues unless I drive past certain VFD, Police, or municipal buildings. I'm guessing the emergency radio systems are cranking out some power, and since the FCC requires consumer electronics to receive interference, that high powered radio kills my Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals. Reconnects immediately and goes right back to playing my Spotify channel.

Another bonus with AA Wireless, I can select where the audio goes. So if I'm using a headset, I can have turn by turn directions in the headset. Or I can set it to play through the speakers on the bike. Nice feature since the Soundstream systems don't support that functionality.
