I hope you’re right. The trick in this case is he has the premium paint set two tone that combines a candy gloss with a matte denim stripe. I’m curious what cost will be from the factory. Dealer’s closed Monday.

True. My bags are midnight blue, about $250 each for the lower half saddlebags, and the fender was only vivid black. Don’t recall the price but it wasn’t bad. But again, it was only black.

Update....
Called the dealer and the OEM fender painted with the Matt black decals is $1,038. If I install it myself it’s basically a wash compared to my $1000 deductible.
A body guy wants $300 to “fix” the fender if I buy the paint which is about $350. Although $650 sounds better than $1038... I am concerned about the match and finish. Not to mention if I go to sell the bike the repair could be an issue.
Im gonna ride the rest of the season and buy the OEM fender during the winter.

I'm curious as to why the question in the first place.....if he swerved and clipped you in the rear, he/she should be at fault and his insurance pays. Have the dealer order a color matched replacement. However, if he swerved and clipped you because you turned in front of him and did not yield right of way.....wake up you are lucky. I did that and got hit square on my left leg and hip. I was thrown 20-30 feet and came skidding to a halt on the pavement. But, back then I was young and dumb...lol.
Best solution is order a new one.....it would probably cost pretty close to a repair and repaint.

Just to be the devil's advocate but we only have 1 story about the accident and who hit who and why. That said, if you are in a hit and run accident you should get as much information as possible about the other driver, vehicle type, time, etc. Without a police report there is likely little opportunity to file under the uninsured driver provision of the policy.
