I installed a camera for this very reason. (Yes, controversial, since it could end up being used against you)
Vehicle collisions in this state are not criminal, they are civil. There are laws the pertain to the CAUSE of the collision and personal liability, but the collision is all civil. That said, don't tell anyone you have the camera or the footage unless you wind up in court over an insurance dispute or civil process.
In rare cases, the LEO may seize the camera in the event of a crash, but the contents are still protected under the 4th Amendment and a search warrant would have to be obtained if consent is not granted.
Called the dealer and the OEM fender painted with the Matt black decals is $1,038. If I install it myself it’s basically a wash compared to my $1000 deductible.
A body guy wants $300 to “fix” the fender if I buy the paint which is about $350. Although $650 sounds better than $1038... I am concerned about the match and finish. Not to mention if I go to sell the bike the repair could be an issue.
Im gonna ride the rest of the season and buy the OEM fender during the winter.
If you can wait, one option is to keep an eye out on Ebay and HD Forum sales for a used fender. I see a 2019 front fender for $200 so they are starting to appear. Also, if you go to Colorite, a pint of each paint 6299/1299-1 will cost $260.
...by taking the insurance $$ and dropping it on a 19 RG. Although I loved my Deluxe, I desperately wanted bags, faring and sounds. Hopefully I can get a good 30-45 days on it before the weather turns. I’m in Chicago.
