So you guys say the OEM filter in the air cleaner is sufficient for a new exhaust? I thought I'd have to replace the filter with the High-Flo K&N filter element. I want to keep the factory air cleaner cover.

The Ventilator is sufficient for a Stage II (cam, exhaust, tuner), especially with a torque cam. As said before, the Ventilator is good for 120-130 hp.

But is the filter element that came factory on the bike the same one as the high-flow in the SE kit?

If I'm reading it correctly, no it is not. The high flow is much wider than the stock ventilator. I do not believe the wider high flow filter will fit in the Ventilator AC either. As already mentioned the OEM Ventilator is good for around 120HP, so unless you have serious performance aspirations (pun intended) you should be good with whatever filter you choose. I pulled my info from the H-D website and looking at the parts catalogs you can get from the owners website that requires a VIN to look up.

Probably not. But it's still plenty sufficient for a Stage II.

My bike is a 114, with the ventilator it came with, with the filter it came with, and the SE447 Torque Cam. It performs excellently, and has for over 31,000 miles. I replaced the filter at the 30,000 mile service, and am using the same filter as the one it came with, because I hate tedious maintenance chores and I don't want to be oiling up my filter, and this one works fine, and it filters out more dust and crap that the K&N might otherwise let through.

If you go beyond 120 hp, you might need a different A/C. In that case, if you like the looks of the Ventilator, you can get FuelMoto's version of it, they have a high-flow version that will support up to something like 150 hp (you'd have to ask them).

With the Harley cams, you're going to see maybe 100-110 hp (depending on whether you get the Torque or Power cam). Either way, the Ventilator as-is is plenty adequate to support a Harley Stage II. If you get an aftermarket cam and aftermarket exhaust and it dyno's out at 125-130 hp+, well, that's when you might need to look at changing to a different A/C system (such as the aforementioned FuelMoto Ventilator).

The SE ventilator AC kit is the same as the stock ventilator on "S" bikes EXCEPT it has the K&N element.
You can buy the K&N element separately if you think you need it.

I'm just running the stock paper filter on my stage II, I do have a K&N to change to if I feel the need. Either one of these elements keeps the stock cover which I like.
Go to the Harley website and look at the Screamin' Eagle parts for your bike and you can compare all the air cleaners.
If down the road I want more air flow, Fuel Moto had a custom K&N AC kit that keeps the stock cover.
I'm not a fan of the SE Extreme filter, it does not use the stock cover.
