Default Is EITMS really needed?

Hello all,

I have a 2021 FatBoy 114 and it has EITMS enabled. I live in Minnesota and so far this summer it’s been in the 90’s quite often. Do I need to have it enabled? I hate how it sounds at the light. Will disabling it cause issues over time? Or is it mainly a rider comfort option with the heat?

thanks guys!

As I understand, the EITMS is more for rider comfort than motor preservation. I’ve never activated mine and it hasn’t been an issue.

OK, I live in Las Vegas, and summer temperatures (starting as early as May and running through mid-September) are usually over 100 degrees. The ambient temperature on the roads frequently exceeds 120 degrees. Therefore, I leave the EITMS turned on all year. I have never noticed a performance problem on my 2019 Softail Low Rider.

The answer is no it is not needed. I am like you, I hate the idle so I turned mine off 7 years ago.

Meh...keep mine on w/ the 2020 Heritage b/c then it's going to engage when needed. Not really focused on sound vs. function & comfort...IMO.
