Default FXLRS Oil problem?

I believe I got a problem. oil level keeps coming up inconsistent recently, seems overfilled yet when I drain out a good amount and do the “cold check” per the manual, I warm up the engine to about 200 degrees and the dipstick is bone dry on the jiffy stand. If I put the bike on a jack so it’s upright I get regular full level on the dipstick. Help lol

Following the manual for filling and checking is important and do it the SAME way every time.
I start with an oil and filter change, filling with 4.5 quarts of oil seems to get my oil level to a good point on the dipstick.
I check it after a ride, on the jiffy stand with front wheel pointed straight, on level ground. Every time.

I have a 2018 FXLR. I had the same inconsistent problem with oil level on dipstick. I had read somewhere that if you idle on kickstand the oil must sump into crankcase and shows low on dipstick, I idle the bike upright, shut off, then place on side stand. The oil level then always readers correct for me.

I had an inconsistency problem because the guy who did the oil at the first service(when the previous owner had my bike) was a dumb *** and didnt read the dipstick instruction.
Bike had 20oz overfill.
I removed the overfill, went for some rides, let the bike sit for a few hours to get cold, measured the oil after he was sitting on a flat surface.
Perfect level.
A few days latter same thing, level surface, checked after having not ridden for a few hours and bike was cold to the touch. Same level.
Overfill was causing my inconsistency problems.

Cold Check is always done with the bike on the kickstand, on a level surface, clean dipstick off, twist it all the way in pull it back out, THAT is your current oil level.
If it's above half, you have overfill. If it doesn't touch the dipstick, you need to add oil.
