Default Venting

I've heard a lot about venting your transmission and crankcase. My 2019 FLSB has a hose coming from the trans. cover, pictures are on the right of bike just in front of dip stick right below the rear exhaust header. Is this a vent for transmission and/or engine crankcase ? Does this mean I don't need an additional venting ? Thanks all

that is the factory trans vent. The trask trans cover has another vent for engine crank case. Or you can add one for the stock cover.

The Trask cover is super nice.

You can also use the cover they put on the new touring models.

Make your own, a straight #4 AN bulkhead fitting for fuel works just fine and cost me $5. from a hot rod shop for the fitting. You’re going to have remove and slip out of the way a oil return line before you can to pull the cover, drill the hole in the cover, bolt the fitting down, install the cover again and run the new vent line out of sight.

The only pain in the rear is removing the trans cover. They rest is like falling off a log.

I know this is a no brainer, but where on the stock FLSB cover would you insert a fitting for crankcase ? Does it need to be a one way valve ? Thanks all.

Is there a reason why you think this is necessary? I haven't seen anything on my Sport Glide that would make me think I need to vent to the transmission. My experience with removing the transmission cover is that it is a PITA if the rear cylinder is on the bike. I'm not saying it can't be done, but the bolts close to the rear cylinder are really hard to get at.

Get a Trask, or see if the new '24 Touring will fit your Softy. Some are going that route, now that HD has finally figured it out.

There are more than a few threads here of the "home brew" version, that did not work.

The Trask works! I am ditching my head breathers, and only using the Trask.

The cover is not that bad to remove with the correct bits and ratcheting wrench.

With the Trask trans cover (i'm not sure with the other ones) but it actually ventilates the crank case, on my LRS it has stopped the oil film inside my aircleaner
