I just installed the Harley flat out bar. It mounts to the same point of the frame above the oil cooler. It needs a different bracket than the fairing mount and comes with that. The flat out bar, or a mustache bar if you did that, goes where the fairing bracket is goes... So it has to do.

The new brackets... Yes stupid they cost so much and I got cheapo from Amazon... Simply attach to the fairing in the same place, and run down to clamp on to the newly installed bar making everything solid again... And the turn signals attach to those. The cheapo brackets are well made and certainly beefy...

However... When I went to attach the turn signals it was a no go. Basically the bolt has a big head, and the bracket is too thick, and there is interference with the bolt head sitting flat on the bracket. So I had to take both brackets and dremel the inside corners to allow the bolt to sit flat... GTG. And it doesn't weaken the bracket. There is a lot of material and what I had to do just isn't a big deal.

So yes, Adavan uses same fairing support, and anyone will have same issue mounting anything that goes to that frame mounting point above the oil cooler, and the brackets still support fair but attach to whatever you need to mount there.

And I say that just to say if Adavan uses the Harley fairing support bracket... Then I can't see how they are not sure if you can mount anything with an engine guard. Because on the fairing end, the attachment point and method is identical... It's just different with how it routes down to new bar and attaches. So with me, I can't see how you would not be able to use any engine guard, and new brackets to support fairing.
sounds to me that they wanted to sell me one of their bars. the mustache bar will work on an st if the correct brackets are used. why it wouldn't work in my case will be explored. I'll find out soon enough.

I have a 23 FXLRST. Hate to bust your bubble, but the Heritage windshield with "fork fangs" gives a smoother ride than the ST fairing.

I have the 8" Klockwerx shield, it's better, but not perfect.

Clear view X-Large is the best for me. My klock werks 10 looks better. If you want the true being in a bubble lowers is the way to go. At least it is for the fxrt fairing.

I've got the 10 also, but it's so close to my line of sight that it bugs me.

That's always going to be a personal thing. I have zero issues. I barely felt stock, the KW 10" is perfect. I personally wouldn't mind taller, but I just think they look wrong when they get tall. Other than where the wind stream hits somebody, the fairing itself is brilliant. I can't possibly imagine a flat windscreen on the forks being better. But... YMMV.

Does anyone have buffeting issues with the st fairing? I don’t mind wind but the a lot of buffeting doesn’t sound enjoyable. Looking to add one to my fxlrs, I’m 6ft tall for reference.
