prblem solved for Auxiliary running light/brake/turn signal conversion kit
For those that want the best of both worlds.
This is from HDF Tech and it worked for me.
Add dual filament lighting to the rear of the bike.
Yes I know there are modules out there that do this for you. Look at the bulb chart and compare the amps that the bulb uses. The filament that is the turn signal uses 2 amps! While the filament that is the running light on the front of the bike uses HALF an amp (0.5). I have no idea how many amps the module itself uses, it has to use some. I just don't believe in loading the electrical system with unnecessary "Black Boxes" when a simple wiring change will do it.
Order two of the front turn signal light housing (dual filament) and replace the rear turn signal housings with them. You will have to run an extra wire from the running light (inside the rear light assembly) to each new turn signal light. Dual filaments mean that the bulb actually has two filaments inside it. The filament is what lights up. Doing this mod also means you only have to carry one type of bulb as a spare instead of a spare bulb for the front turn signals and a different spare bulb for the rear (oh by the way, the plastic film can that 35mm film comes in is a great way to carry a spare 1157 or better yet a 3496K bulb)Take a look at the bulb chart and compare the bulbs.
When you get the dual filament housings, apply 12vdc to each wire and ground the case of the light. This will let you see which wire lights the turn signal filament (brighest) and which lights the running light (dimmest). One word of advice, we all know Harleys vibrate so solder the splices! Check with your local state authorities to see if you can keep the amber lenses as rear running lights or if you need to order new ones in red. Some states are picky that way.

Many thanks Oneshotdog!
I just finished this mod and thanks to your post, I was able to easily fix the kit to give me what I wanted: extra brake lights. This was a 30 minute job from start to finish.
I really appreciate you taking the time to post this.

Does anyone have the wiring schematic that shows which wires to splice into to make the side lights on the tourpak become turn signals?
I have the "run/stop/turn" pack installed so the rear turns stay on, if I tap the lights into the connection in the tail light it works great but I want to do it under the seat...

some people feel that there is not enough contrast between the running lights function and the brake lights. doing this mod insures that the cager behind you knows that you hit the brakes (assuming of course that he is paying attention).
here's a quick step by step. the only credit i take for this is copying and saving..... i'm glad that there are others out there that are smarter than me to figure this kind of stuff out

i am posting this in case anyone else had the same problem as me and did not have access to the images referenced in the first few posts. if you did, then i apologize, and you can ignore these.....

I did mine the old fashion way, just tap into the turn and brake wires in behind the tail light. Also used a third brake light from an early model suberban (90's thru early 2000's). Had the Hoglite that went under the tour pak, but the cagers with the big trucks that are on your ***, can't see the light under the TP. The one from the sub. mounts on top of the TP. I painted it the same color, and its super bright.

How do you view the image thread that are sometimes listed in posts?
Like the one below. I have tried highlighting and don't get it. TIA, Jeff

Wow. Interesting topic with a lot of ideas. Still, there are a lot of off-the-shelf solutions for run-brake-turn for both the pancake lights and the tour-pak lights. The LED lights at ridetimetechnology.com come to mind, as well as a few from Custom Dynamics and Kuryakyn.
Skratch those were great pics....
I have the same module form HD to make run/stop/trun, I just want to know which ones to bring splices off of to make my tourpack running lights work as sun/stop/turn, I don't want to have to run wires all the down and around into the tail light to do it....
