Default SB tacho signal under console

Hi there!

I'm going to mount an aftermarket small rev counter/tacho on my '07 Street Bob.

Do you know if under the console there's the rpm signal for an electronic tacho/rev counter?
I think a pink wire.

Low Rider has both instruments on the console and has this signal.

Is wiring different, or also SB has something under the console?

If so, do you remember the reduction of this signal for an universal tacho? 1:1, 1:2, 2:1?

Many thanks and kind regards...

2007 FXD,FXDB,FXDL all use the same main wiring harness.
The only tach signal that I could find when I did mine was at the ECM.

I would assume you'd need an electronic tach.

To get signal you will most likely have to get it at pin 3 of the ECM

Like Skip, I searched under the console and could not find a wire that provided a tach signal. I ended up using #3 of the ECM, but I have also seen people using the coil. Good Luck

Some universal electronic rev conters have this option of a wire twisted around the coil's wire like a spiral. It detects a potential difference into the coil's wire and assume a spark and a rev of the engine.

But I've the one that connects to a signal from crank, or before the coil, or the pink wire #3 from ECM.

I was simply searching for the same signal near the speedo to don't use a longer cable till the ECU connector.
Because I've a Power Commander V so I've also to decide if connect it to the PCV plug or the ECU plug.

Pin #3 in on the speedo connector in most bikes is also a tach signal, although I've heard some have had problems with its reliability. Pin 3 of the ECU always seems to work.

I AM NOT telling you to splice into your speedo wiring but looking at the wiring diagram I belive that the Low Ride splits the (LGN/V wire) to both (DATBUS speedo) and (DATALINK tach) inside the instrument harness.
I DO NOT RECCOMEND you do this on a guess.
See the diagram from 2007 Service Mamual.

I was thinking to use a plug like the one shown above to grab the signal without splice the wires, but looking at the wiring diagram it seems that's a digital data signal containing both revs and speed pulse, so every instrument (speedo or tacho) knows how to extract it's own signal.

Ok, it's better to go on #3 from ECU.
