Front and rear wheels painted and polished, floating rotors w/pictures
1. Remove the clear coat on the sliders, yes please use it, it takes much less time sanding the clear coat. You don't have to do that on Fatboy wheels, no clear from the factory.
2. Use a die grinder, clean all the joints, chip, dent etc. Trust me, if you don't smooth the edges and surface, it will show after you polished them.
3. I am lazy, left the sliders on the bike, it wasn't that hard. Starting with a rough wet sanding pad until you see a smooth surface, use a lot of soapy water. Then 320 grits sand paper, works all the way up 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500. At the end I used 2000 grits sand paper, lightly sand the surface, it came out nice already, just like mirror finish no kidding.
4. Air blow dry both sliders, put some Autosol polish on the sliders, not too much tho, more doesn't mean better. Take a Flitz ball or Mothers ball on electric drill work around the sliders, you may have to repeat 2-3 times until the black is gone.
5. Followed by Mothers aluminum polish, yes a little elbow grease for a nice touch.
Any more question, PM me.
