Default Speaker problem solved

Just some FYI.... not long ago I discovered my left front speaker on my 09 Ultra was not working! Thinking the speaker, (original) was bad, I hooked up another. Mmm that wasn't the problem, the new speaker didn't work either. Diagnostic on HK radio said "open speaker". Well, not knowing what the hell that means, I figured maybe a problem with radio. Pulled radio, temporarily hooked up another radio. Not the problem ! Ok, so I now knew I had to dive into that fur ball of wires under the faring. I am sure the more experienced with these matters would have figured this out faster and with less cursing than me......but here's what the problem was for the lesser experienced like me. as I began to un-wrap the wiring I discovered a wire (my left speaker) had simply snapped in two. The wiring under the fairing is pulled so tightly to secure it and fit under the faring that over the years the pressure on a tight bend snapped the wire. I am no wiring expert, but the fix took 15 mins and $2.50 for some shrinkable tubing. I repositioned the wiring lines to reduce some of the stress points. My persistence paid off, cause I really didn't want to pay $90.00 an hour to have a tech check it out.

It's always gratifying to find your trouble and fix it yourself, huh?
